AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The overall aim of the Women in Judo Committee is to assist the Executive Board to raise awareness about gender equality, inclusion and promote membership growth.
AUTHORITY, STRUCTURE AND MEMBERSHIP
The membership of the Women in Judo Committee shall be as follows:

1 x Chair - appointed by JNS Executive team

5 representatives - by invitation of the Chair and JNS Executive team

1 x Athletes Representative - by invitation of the committee

Secretary

The JNS President is an ex-officio member of the Committee but does not have the right to vote.
TERM OF COMMITTEE
The Committee will be appointed on a biennial basis.
COMPETENCIES/ATTRIBUTES

Experience and knowledge of Judo provincially, nationally and internationally
-
Experience and knowledge in gender equality measures

Sound senior management and leadership experience

Communication, research, and documentation experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
To deliver advocacy on gender equality issues in Judo
-
Advocacy for increased participation of women in Judo and in leadership positions, promoting the rights and well-being of women in and through sport
-
Development and dissemination of Judo NS's position on women and sport issues, and monitoring and regularly reporting on the progress in meeting gender equality
-
Supporting the development of women’s skills in management, coaching, officiating, and leadership
-
To be active in raising awareness about gender equality in their respective domains
STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

The development and implementation of a Women in Judo strategy
-
Identify funding opportunities supporting the strategic plan
-
To identify and cooperate with other sport associations in regular exchange and knowledge
-
Continue to oversee the gender equality in Judo NS and recommend changes
-
To establish and maintain contacts with people responsible for women’s Judo in Judo Canada and other Judo PTSO's.

Recognition of achievements of individuals promoting women in and through Judo, including through the Women and Judo Award
-
Identification and creation of projects benefiting girls and women
WORKING METHOD
-
Meet physically once a year or at the request of Chair.

Meetings would be monthly.

Conference calls to be held as required.
